Firm Overview

West Virginia Divorce and Personal Injury Lawyer

Attorney and Staff

I am a native West Virginian and a graduate of the West Virginia University College of Law. I currently serve as the Municipal Court judge in Charleston, Nitro, and St. Albans, where I hear thousands of cases each year. Because of my background, I believe I truly understand the concerns of people in the region.

Providing sound advice, vigorous advocacy and empathetic support during difficult times

My office staff is led by Erin Williams, who is involved in every case my firm accepts. We all work hard, prepare thoroughly and provide an empathetic ear. We know that having to consult a lawyer usually means that something has gone wrong in your life. Whether a car accident or custody dispute, I am dedicated to working to obtaining the best results possible and getting you through your legal difficulty. Personal injury practice

I provide legal representation in matters related to personal injury and family law. In the case of personal injury, it really is personal. In 1987, I was involved in a serious truck accident. Because I had no legal advice, I settled with the trucking company's insurance company for next to nothing. I resolved to dedicate my legal practice to helping people in similar situations.

Family law practice

My family law practice is committed to providing people with the information and advice they need to protect their rights during difficult custody battles or disputes over the equitable distribution of property. In every family law matter, I work hard to protect the best interests of my clients and their children. I am guided by this mission statement in my family law practice and all legal matters:

"Strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being.”

Office

My law office is located in Charleston, West Virginia, near the South Side Bridge, City Hall and the Kanawha County and United States courthouses. I schedule appointments to meet with my clients between the hours of 7:30am - 3:30pm; other times can be arranged on request.

Fees

Personal injury matters as diverse as dog bites to truck accidents are handled on a contingency basis. This means that you pay no attorney's fee until you accept a settlement or win a jury verdict. If the claim is unsuccessful, you owe no fee. I accept credit cards for family law matters such as divorce or modifications and offer a 10% discount for clients currently on active military duty.
